Business Excellence Award

·It’s been a great year here at Cupcakes Canada we have expanded our business opening our new location in Pickering Village and we’d like to thank every one of our customers for making it possible. We recently won the Business Excellence Award and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Nathan MacDonald could not have summed it up better in his beautiful speech.

“The winner of our Business Excellence Award in the 1-9 employees category is a small family business and a going concern. This organization stands out for its unwavering commitment to quality, to customer satisfaction and to our community.

The company demonstrates an abiding commitment to enriching the customer experience. Every business makes mistakes but the companies that go above and beyond the call of duty to quickly make things right are the ones that stand out and the ones that last.

And it’s not just reactive customer service that sets them apart. They have implemented a proactive Continuous improvement and Quality Program to ensure they are putting their best foot forward. It includes feedback suggestion/comment cards, not only for customers but for employees as well. They know that it is essential to deliver consistent quality day in and day out. Through continuous training and communication with staff, they are able to eliminate most customer service or quality issues before the client leaves the store. They do this because they understand that word of mouth means everything.

The continuous improvement program goes beyond feedback forms and involves regular staff meetings, a robust employee training system, regular performance appraisals and a newly implemented employee incentive program.

With good policies and procedures like these, it’s no wonder that in February 2014, the company had to relocate to a larger space in historic Pickering Village.

Moreover, this company has received a whole host of thank you letters, certificates and plaques for the support they have lent to local charities and community initiatives. Let me highlight just one example. During the month of November, they bake “Movember Cupcakes” complete with a variety of moustaches in support of men’s health and all proceeds are donated to the cause.

This small, family run bakery takes pride in the small batches they bake from scratch daily. They also take pride in the fact that they use local produce, fresh ingredients and no preservatives. And certainly, they can take pride in tonight’s award. Ladies and gentlemen join me in a round of applause for your Business Excellence Award Winner in the 1-9 Employees Category – you guessed it – Cupcakes Canada.”
